Cleveland County Detention Center Inmate Jacob Dieball Dies: Sixth Death in a Year

On Friday, January 10, 2025, Cleveland County Jail reported the death of Jacob Shane Dieball, 27, marking the sixth detainee death in the last year. According to news releases, Dieball was seen lying on his bunk, breathing and moving his head and hands at about 9:21 a.m. during in-person sight checks. About 15 minutes later, at 9:35 a.m., detention staff were alerted for a welfare check, found him unresponsive but breathing, administered Narcan, and Turn Key staff began life-saving measures. He was pronounced dead shortly after, with the cause of death still under investigation.

Dieball was booked into the jail on October 24, 2024, following his arrest by the Norman Police Department, facing charges including carrying a firearm by a convicted felon, six counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, larceny, obstructing an officer, aggravated trafficking of illegal drugs, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and a hold for Norman PD.
