OHP Investigates Fatal Crash at US-70 and US-271: Shelby Noah and Shawn Noah Injured, Brittney Spalding Dead

On December 7, 2024, a tragic car crash occurred near Soper, Oklahoma, at the intersection of US-70 and US-271, involving a Kia Optima and a Honda Pilot. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) responded around 9:33 p.m., and the incident resulted in one fatality and several injuries, including Shelby Noah and Shawn Noah, who were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The crash involved two vehicles: a Kia Optima driven by Nicholas Penick, 31, with passenger Brittney Spalding, 23, and a Honda Pilot driven by Shelby Noah, 32, with passengers Shawn Noah, 43, and two young children. According to reports, Penick was turning left onto US-271 from eastbound US-70 when his vehicle was struck by Noah's westbound Honda Pilot.

Brittney Spalding was pinned for approximately 20 minutes before being extricated by the Hugo Fire Department and was pronounced dead at a Hugo hospital. Penick suffered leg injuries and was transported in stable condition, while Shelby Noah, Shawn Noah, and the two children were also taken to hospitals in stable condition. The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by the OHP, with no clear details yet on contributing factors such as speed, alcohol, or road conditions.
