Rocio Sanchez Dies in Two-Vehicle Accident in Garfield Ridge, Illinois

On March 27, 2025, a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred in the 5600 block of West 55th Street in Garfield Ridge, Chicago, Illinois, claiming the life of Rocio Sanchez, a 31-year-old resident of Chicago's Southwest Side. The accident took place at approximately 3:25 a.m. when a Ford Fusion, driven by 28-year-old Edgar Santana, executed a U-turn and was struck by a westbound Hyundai Palisade. Sanchez, a passenger in the Fusion, was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. Santana, the driver of the Fusion, was also pronounced dead following the incident.

The collision injured four additional individuals: the 29-year-old male driver of the Palisade, a 17-year-old female passenger in the Palisade, and two men aged 25 and 26, who were likely passengers in the Fusion. The Chicago Police Department is conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
