Levigildo Ramirez Fatality in Heavener, Oklahoma Poultry Plant Accident

On March 18, 2025, a devastating workplace accident claimed the life of Levigildo Ramirez, a sanitation shift worker at OK Foods, a poultry processing facility located in Heavener, Oklahoma. According to local news reports, Ramirez was performing his duties during an overnight shift when he fell through grating into an auger, resulting in fatal injuries. Emergency first responders were dispatched to the scene around 3 a.m. and, despite their efforts, Ramirez was pronounced deceased at 3:24 a.m. The incident has raised significant concerns about workplace safety at the facility.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has initiated a formal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and to assess whether safety protocols were adequately followed. At the time of this writing, OK Foods has not provided an official statement or responded to requests for comment.
