Injury Crash on Highway 169 Near Highway 27 Involves Multiple Vehicles and Injuries

On March 16, 2025, at approximately 2:44 PM, a multi-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 169 and Highway 27 in South Harbor Township, Mille Lacs County. The Minnesota State Patrol reports that three vehicles were involved: a 2007 Jeep Liberty, a 2003 GMC Sierra Pickup, and a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country Van. The incident began when the Jeep Liberty, driven by 50-year-old Scotty Edward Moen of Wahkon, Minnesota, was slowing to turn right onto Highway 27. At that moment, the Chrysler Van, operated by 28-year-old Hanna Ann Gordon of Aitkin, Minnesota, rear-ended the Jeep, causing it to collide with the GMC Sierra, which was stationary at a stop sign on Highway 27, driven by 89-year-old Maynard Charles Berland of Wahkon, Minnesota.

The crash resulted in several injuries, though all were non-life-threatening. Hanna Gordon and her three passengers—6-year-old Kaiser Wayne Gordon, 3-year-old Jasper Ray Philstrom, and 4-year-old Rylan Russell Philstrom—were transported to Onamia Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Maynard Berland and his 90-year-old passenger, Kathleen Louise Berland, sustained minor injuries but did not require hospital transport. Scotty Moen reported no injuries. Notably, all individuals were wearing seat belts except for Gordon. The road conditions were dry, and the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office provided assistance at the scene.
