Fatal Car Crash on State Highway 33 in Payne County, Oklahoma: One Dead, One Injured

On January 14, 2025, a tragic car accident occurred on State Highway 33 near Country Club Road in Payne County, Oklahoma. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the crash involved a 2012 Ford Fusion and a 2024 Ram pickup truck. The driver of the Ford Fusion, 19-year-old Larry D. Birdine III from Norman, crossed the center line while traveling eastbound and collided with the Ram pickup driven by 41-year-old Steven Vaughn.

Birdine was pinned in his vehicle for approximately two hours and was pronounced dead at the scene. Vaughn sustained injuries and was transported by Life Net Ambulance Service to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City for treatment. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the OHP, and further details have not been released.
