Linda Ross Injured in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision on State Highway 1 in Rural Poinsett, Arkansas
On March 19, 2025, a tragic multi-vehicle accident occurred on State Highway 1 near its intersection with State Highway 158 in Rural Poinsett, Arkansas, resulting in one fatality and two injuries. Linda Ross, a 74-year-old resident of Jonesboro, was a passenger in a 2019 Lincoln traveling southbound when the vehicle was struck by a northbound 2007 GMC Sierra. The GMC Sierra, driven by 19-year-old Ty Henderson of Wynne, had attempted to pass a 2004 Chevrolet and sideswiped it with its trailer before crossing the centerline and colliding with the Lincoln. Ross sustained injuries and was transported to St. Bernards Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Lincoln, 72-year-old David Reid, also from Jonesboro, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The collision, which took place under clear yet windy conditions on dry roads, has left the community in mourning. Henderson, the driver of the GMC Sierra, was also injured and taken to St. Bernards Hospital. The Arkansas State Police, led by Corporal Tommy L. Fitzgerald, is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident. Reid’s body has been taken to Gregg Wesson Funeral Home, and his next of kin have been notified.
